To the Patrons of Littlefield ISD:

It is hard to believe we will begin our third week of school on Monday!  Kudos to our teachers and students for getting right back into the groove of school from day one.  With school back in the swing, it is imperative that you as a parent continue to talk with your child(ren) about staying on top of their school work and attendance.  Progress reports will be going out on Thursday, September 7.  If you have any questions regarding your child(ren’s) education, please feel free to contact their principal at your convenience.  We are here to serve!

Work is continuing on the construction of the new high school.  Teinert Construction company is doing a phenomenal job working to insure we stay on a timeline to have the new building completed by December 2024.

We are getting ready to sell the remaining bond proceeds of the 41.5 million dollars the voters approved back in May of 2022.  The remaining bonds total $ 2,670,000 dollars and will complete our new JH renovation and the two new maker spaces that will be located in the Elementary and Primary buildings.  Our values went up significantly this summer and it allowed LISD to be able to secure the remaining bonds.  Again, it will be a monumental day when all the work is completed and our students will be walking the halls in new buildings exemplifying “Wildcat Pride.”

A special “Thank You” to all the folks who made “Meet the Wildcats” possible.  This is a great tradition that allows our community to come out and meet our student athletes and Cheerleaders who will be representing Littlefield High School.  We have begun a number of extracurricular activities with the beginning of school, such as:  Band, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Football.  I encourage you to support our students as they begin a new school year with high expectations not only in the extracurricular arena, but also in the classroom.

The Texas Legislature passed a tax property bill that will pay dividends to our local taxpayers.  First, they compressed our tax rate down considerably that allows our tax bills to decrease.  In layman’s terms, compression is the state using their money (Surplus) to buy down the tax rates which in essence reduces what the taxpayers owe.  On top of that, they increased the homestead exemption from 40 thousand to 100 thousand.  This item must be voter approved in the November election.  If approved, it allows another avenue of tax relief for our taxpayers.  For example, if your home is valued at or below 100 thousand dollars, you will not have a tax bill assessed on your property.  We will see how the election pans out in November.

I would like to send a shout out to our Maintenance/Custodial/Cafeteria staff who have worked extremely hard this summer to insure our facilities are immaculate as students and staff return.  Our maintenance director is Mark Warsing.  Jerry Soria is our transportation mechanic who keeps our buses running.  The remaining maintenance staff :  Ray Vargas,  Marcelino Castillo, Greg Martinez, Adrian Medina, and Lannie Potts. These folks are responsible for the grounds and the upkeep on our facilities.  YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

Our custodial staff includes: Esmerelda Cantu, Dina Cristan, Dora Mireles, Sandra Reyes, Lupe Rodriguez, Daniel Rojas, Maricela Rojas, Jeremy Saenz, and Debbie Scott.  Our custodial staff is responsible for keeping the buildings cleaned and ready to go each day for our kiddos.  YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

Our cafeteria staff includes: Mary Munoz is our Cafeteria Director.  Victoria Villanueva is our High School Manager while Monica Potts is our Junior High/Elementary Manager.  Our cafeteria employees are:  Esmerelda Alvarado De Tarango, Terri Contreras, Stephanie Davis, Brenda Hernandez, Alma Madera, Adrianna Martinez, Angela Montalvo, Irene Saenz, Silvia Solano, Francisco Tarango, Mary Ann Coronado, and Maria Villafranco.  These folks start very early in the morning preparing breakfast and lunch for our students.  YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

We will be out of school on Monday, September 4 in observance of Labor Day.  School will resume at regular time on Tuesday.
